idea

The time quantum is the smallest unit of time used to organize yourself.

The time quantum tends to be a round unit, such as an hour, a day, etc. Reducing the time quantum helps keeping focus and achieving more because of Parkinson's law.

Whereas individuals or agile teams might use small time quantums (e.g. planning over days or weeks), larger companies tend to use bigger quantums (planning over month, quarter or year).

Parkinson's law pushes for a smaller time quantum.

Lean is about trying to minimize time quantum.

Meetings usually have a time quantum of an hour while a shorter time quantum would be more productive.
