Idea
Timeboxing consists in fixing a maximum time for a certain piece of work to be done, ensuring that the cost alloted for the work does not drift, therefore leaving quality/scope as the only variable. It requires scope-control[2] to work. It sometimes backfire because of Parkinson's law[1].
