Communicating criticism works best when done with positive intent.
Explain reason for criticism, which appeals to the rational mind and creates a common goal.
Communicate with the best interest of the recipient in mind.
Use a genuine tone and warmth, which communicate belonging and safety. Avoid condescension, which puts recipient in a defensive mode ; and avoid administrative, pompous or formal modes, which put recipient in a formal discussion mode.
