idea

Kids can get angry and go into a holding pattern repeating that they want something again and again.

If a kid is looping on a topic and doesn't want to let go, try to redirect the behaviour. For example if a kid wants candy and doesn't let go:

I'm all done discussing the subject. Speaking about food though, what do you think we should get for dinner.

On opposite, ignore him, to disconnect the looping from a successful outcome.

Protect your sanity: voice that you need a break, and allow yourself space. Put on your headphones.

I am feeling frustrated and need a break. I am going to put my headphones in for 5 minutes, but I will be ready to talk afterwards

Don't present reinforcement opportunities when in the loop. Wait until the child is calm, and THEN offer reinforcement. This avoids going into bargaining.

Alternatively, use alternatives instead of saying no.

Understand which of the Four functions of behaviour is stimulated, and make sure to disconnect the behaviour from the function that the kid is trying to achieve.
