Class conflict is the diametrical opposition of labor and capital classes interests:

Labor, who sell their time for a wage, wants the highest salary possible and work as little as possible
Capital, who owns the means of production, wants to pay the lowest salaries possible and get the maximum work in return

Middle classes own some capital but are still in the labor class. They are mostly a construct to divide the population^[1].
