Choosing the right tire
Three components:
- Casing (structure)
- TPI = threads per inch. The highest, the stiffest.
- for enduro type ride, lighter, like double down (heavier) or exo-plus (lighter)
- issues with rim hits/flats => go heavier/more robust casing.
- Pattern
- for the front, transitional.
- loose/soft -> get spaced and high knobs.
- Rocky and smooth -> dense and not as high. Assegai
- Rear: soft slip is fine. DHX, DH-II.
- Compound
- Softness most important in wet. "Ultra soft": Max grip
- In dry, not as important. Harder compound: Max terra
