Society will ultimately collapse, probably within the next 100y
- complexity: today's society is very complex and made of a large number of specialized social roles. This introduces a lack of resiliency and reduces adaptatability to major changes
- finite fuel: industrial society was rendered possible thanks to fossil fuels, most notably oil. Fossil fuels are finite, oil already passed peak production. Most transport and cargo is still currently relying on oil.
- finite resources: beyond fuel, world is finite. There is a limit to areable land, forest, access to fresh water. The population size that land can use is known as carying capacity. Industrialization increased the carying capacity of a given land, notably through fuel, by increasing the yield of agriculture, and making it possible to transport food and goods from out of those zones. The carrying capacity of earth is ~10% of its current population
- *Fractional reserve banking*, the dominent system in the western world, is systemically fragile, and can collapse at mild level of trust erosion. Coupled with inflation and exponentional levels of debt, it is cause for collapse.
