$$happiness = events - expectations$$
When how we think about events doesn't match or surpass expectations, we are unhappy. The important point is that we can view events in different ways.
The default setting when you're born is happiness. We put "apps" on top of that that make us unhappy.
Brain has three types of thinking:
- Insightful - calculate, deduce
- Experiential - watch
- Incessant - backprocess. This is useless, never provides good outputs. Backprocess pushes to re-live events and suffer about it.
There are illusions and blind-spots pre-built in our brain due to evolution and make us see events in a worse light than it should.
